Rates

Computer services are not as expensive as you might think (not here, anyway). The following some common rates:

General Bench Rate: $60 per hour
You bring the computer to us. Some problems can only be fixed in the shop. Generally this costs you less because we work more efficiently in the shop, and we don't bill for idle computer time (downloading software, for example). A typical visit to the shop is around $50. Turnaround time is a few days.

Priority Bench Rate: $90 per hour
Your machine is placed in the priority queue, ahead of all others (except other priority jobs). Turnaround time is often less than a day.

General On-site Rate: $60 first half hour, then $40 per half hour
We bring the shop to you. Not all problems can be fixed this way. In addition to the on-site premium, this can cost more because the technician is billing for every half hour he is present, no matter what he is doing. A typical on-site call is around $90. Travel time may be billed.

Advanced Network Rate: $60-100 per hour
In addition to requiring an automatic on-site response, the complicated nature of business-class networks require us to send out our premium-rate technicians. The rate varies, depending on the skills required.

Standard Remote Services: $20 per half-hour
Customers properly equipped may be able to have their machines configured remotely to avoid on-site charges.

Standard Telephone Service and Support: $10 per quarter-hour
If problem resolution is carried out over the phone it is billed at this rate in quarter-hour segments. This service may not be available to everyone and not all problems can be solved this way.

Trivial: $5
The rate exists for those times when you lug the thing in and the technician does something trivial, like toggling the on switch.

Simple Diagnostic: $30
This often includes looking at software configuration or running tests on the computer.

Complex Diagnostic: $60
More complicated problems might involve opening up the computer and taking parts out for testing.

Typical Hardware Repair: $60 + parts
Most hardware repairs don't take more than an hour to do the diagnostic, assessment, and repair.

Installation of a New Piece of Hardware: $30 + parts
New hardware installation takes anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour. This includes the installation of the hardware and software associated with the new hardware.

Installation of Major Upgrades: $90 + parts
Major upgrades often involve installing and testing many new parts and often take one or more hours to complete.

Reinstallation of Windows: $120
A fairly common operation. Includes the installation of Windows, updates, driver software, and Internet software, where applicable.

Installation of Application Software: $30

Configuring a Computer for the Internet: $30
